Is the product approved?
Match the exact brand and form to the FDA medicine record. A shared ingredient name is not enough.

This page shows which record answers five practical questions: Is the product approved? Who may provide care? Is the pharmacy licensed? What did a study find? Will a health plan pay?
The Food and Drug Administration keeps a record for each approved medicine. Search the exact brand and form, such as a Wegovy injection or tablet. The record tells you whether that product has approval and whether it may be sold.
The official prescribing label gives the approved uses, side effects, boxed warning, and reasons the medicine may not fit.
As of September 2026, the federal record showed no marketable generic semaglutide in the United States.
Open the federal medicine dataCompounded medicine is made to order for one patient by a pharmacy or doctor. The FDA’s compounding pages explain that the agency does not approve or check each such medicine before it is sold.
The FDA also keeps a national shortage list, which says whether the country’s supply is short—not whether one local pharmacy is out. Its copy policy explains when a pharmacy may make a version close to an available approved product.
As of September 2026, semaglutide injections were not on the national shortage list.

The state medical board records a doctor’s current licence and public discipline. The state board of pharmacy records pharmacy permission.
As of September 2026, a doctor or other licensed medical professional providing online care needed permission in the state where the patient was located. That permission is usually called a state licence; start with that state’s medical board.

The STEP 1 study is the main source for the weight result shown on the medicine page. The journal record also names the study funder.

The Medicare facts here come from the federal program pages. Cash offers come from dated terms and are kept separate from list prices.

Use the patient’s state medical board for the doctor and the state pharmacy board for the pharmacy.
Read who joined the study, what support they received, and the average result. Then ask how the service’s care differs.
A licence shows that a person or pharmacy has state permission; it does not prove that one service is best. A study average does not predict one person’s result.
These records also cannot choose a dose or treatment for you. Talk through that decision with your doctor or other licensed medical professional.
